• In the north, Hosta plantaginea can be troublesome. It prefers a longer growing season and also emerges early making it susceptible to late freezes.
• Northern growers will benefit from giving the clump, especially the first couple winters, a 2-3" layer of mulch to protect from late freezes.
• Large fragrant white flowers appear in late summer. It is a night bloomer with the flowers opening late in the afternoon.
