• Bob Solberg has worked extensively with red and purple petiole hostas and this is one of the great hostas from his work.
• Dark green leaves are rounded and have rippled margins.
• The attractive leaves are held on purple petioles and the purple extends into the leaf blade.
• I would grow this hosta for the leaves alone but the added reddish-purple that bleeds into the leaf make this hosta special.
• I have seen pictures of the purple bleeding way into the leaf but have not seen this with ours yet.
• Leaves are slightly shiny on top and bottom.
• Bright purple scapes hold the pale purple flowers in late summer.

Why Should I Grow It? The thick glossy green leaves with red petioles that bleed into the leaf.
